How are people getting rich? - I start my senior year oh highschool on monday. After working full time this summer at my first “real” job, i realize I can’t work 40 hour weeks the rest of my life. I’ve always wanted to “start my own business” or just be ... See More my own boss, but i’m getting closer to being an adult and I have no direction. I have most of the money I made saved, but how do i turn this into more. I see these 16-35 year olds talking about how they make 10k a month drop-shipping, and new millionaire gurus popping up every week, people tell me to go into day trading, which i did for a little bit, but not as profitable because of the risk. I’m going to continue to work though out school, but I don’t want that to be my only source of income. For the people who did figure out what to do at a young age to start making good money, what did you do? how did you spend your money, and what are the best industries to look into. Real estate? I’m only 17 now, but im still so determined to be successfulEdit: Thank you guys for all the replys, i’m just not getting to read them since i just got off work, lol. But I think i confused some people. I am willing to work many hours a week, I worked overtime when I could at my current job. What I meant about my working 40 hours a week statement. I meant getting stuck in the 9-5 loop most people are in. Do the same thing their whole life. The “American Dream” ya know. nothing is wrong with that lifestyle but that’s not how I want to live. I am willing to work, I just can’t justify giving all my time to a company that isn’t going to help me grow. I want to make money on my own
My app makes 6k to 7k a month but I don't know how to grow it - I've tried running google ads to increase my downloads, but I almost barely see any increase in the downloads. For example one campaign I spent $400 to only get 621 installs, only targeting ... See More tier 1 countries. A next campaign I spent over $700 to get 7k+ installs but including a mixture of tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 countries and both times I never really saw an increase in revenue. So it feels like I'm wasting money. Maybe I'm just not good at paid marketingSo I've kinda given up on running ads because my app organically gets 10k to 13k downloads a month but I also feel like maybe I'm doing something wrong and I'm leaving a lot of growth on the table. The category I'm in is very competitive, there's a competing app making over 600k a month (I'd estimate a million). And that makes me think it's very hard to run ads because I'm competing against an organisation with unlimited capital. My user base is very steady and I'm comfortable making 6k to 7k a month, but I do fear some day it will start declining and would've love to figure out some way to grow it.
I've challenged myself to make $100K in 100 days (DAY 86) - It’s day 86 of my journey. **Who am I?** I’m a Software Engineer living in Serbia, with no prior experience in sales or entrepreneurship. **What I’ve tried in these 86 days?** I tried to create ... See More my own mobile app, but it went really slow, so I’ve decided to work on it later, not during my challenge - $0. I’ve created a few digital products (black and white, minimalistic maps) and selling them on Etsy - $4. I’ve started offering mentoring services for beginner level programmers. That worked pretty well in the beginning, but then it slowed down - $1800. I’ve started making YouTube videos about my life as a software engineer. It’s going very slow but that’s normal, I guess. It won’t help me with my challenge, but I believe that in a long-term, having (and growing) a YT channel is a good idea. And I simply like making videos - $0. I’ve found a freelance project where I work as a backend developer, just like my main job. I understand it’s not very entrepreneurial because it’s just a job, however, at this stage it seems like the best option to make some money, because I already have the skill - $6000. After one of my previous posts, a guy DMed me here on Reddit and asked me if I can do the coding in his new application. We had a conversation, I liked the idea, so I’ve started to work on that project as well. It doesn’t make me any money now but maybe it will in the future - $0. So in total I’ve made $7804 so far. **Summary** As you can see I’m extremely far behind my goal. Roughly in the middle of the challenge it became obvious that I can’t reach $100k in 100 days. I work on 2 full time projects, work on the app, make videos for my YT channel, and sometimes I do mentoring. But as I said it’s probably the best option to make at least some money for my other ideas, so I’m using skills that I already have and learning new ones. In 14 days the challenge will be over and you will see how badly I screwed up lol. Thank you for your attention.

I have a business that is earning me $7k a month. Should I drop out of college to grow this business? - Hey everyone, I'm a 20-year-old from The Philippines who's currently navigating a unique situation, and I could really use your advice. About half a year ago, I ... See More launched my own Social Media ghostwriting agency, specializing in serving streamers, YouTubers, and medium-sized companies who need a consistent online presence. So far, things have been going pretty well, and I've managed to create a good client base and am earning $7k a month. On top of this business venture, I'm also pursuing a degree in Computer Science. Up until now, I've been able to juggle both my studies and my business, especially during semesters with lighter workloads. But here's where things get tricky – this semester, the coursework has significantly ramped up in terms of time and effort required. This has put me in quite the conundrum. I'm torn between giving my all to my studies, potentially slowing down my business's growth and essentially killing it, or temporarily putting my academic pursuits on hold to focus more on expanding my agency. I know this community has a diverse range of experiences and perspectives, and I'm hoping some of you might have encountered similar crossroads. Have any of you faced a similar situation? How did you navigate through it? What factors did you consider when making your decision? Your insights would mean the world to me. Feel free to share your thoughts, advice, or any stories you think might help me see things from different angles. Thanks in advance, and looking forward to hearing your thoughts!Additional Notes:\- I am 2 years away from completing my degree\- I hired and trained 3 social media ghostwriters but they still require my supervision so that the quality wouldn't drop off.

I started a kayak rental business 2 months ago and made over 10k last month - I have done over $10,000 in profit this past month which feels quite incredible. It has been lots of work on the front-end but still more income than I have ever made in a ... See More month. I am 28 years old.I started a pressure washing business back in 2020 and now this kayak rental business has become my source of income.**Here are some interesting things to note:**1. All startup costs/expenses were just under $5k2. Expenses per month are about $7503. The majority of the process is automated. I just deliver and pick-up the kayaks4. I have 9 double kayaks, $75-95 a piece per day, 5-6 days a week (each day varies)5. I have received 53 5-star reviews on Google**Things I have learned:**1. Find what others are doing well and model your business after them2. If it is low-risk and you have done your research, then start the business3. Great customer service is key4. Ask for reviews and send them a link5. Put in the hard work and watch it pay off6. One day at a time7. Invest the profit back into the businessIf anyone has any advice for me that has been where I am as it is still early on, I welcome it**More info to answer your quesitons:**1. Where do you store the kayaks? *I store them at a private location*2. Where are you located? *In Hawaii*3. Do you have insurance? *Yes, also an LLC, and guests sign liability release waivers*4. How do you advertise? *Everything from social media, word of mouth, flyers, Google ads, FB ads, etc.*5. How is the business semi-automated? *I use Fareharbor and Smartwaiver, the client books through the website and makes a full payment there as well. Then I get a notification of the booking and show up with the kayaks at arranged day/time.***The simple truth:** It takes lots of hard work to see some results (and I also believe in God - so I trust Him day-to-day). So my advice: work hard and entrust yourself to Jesus the creator of all things!**Update:** Thank you all so much for your encouragement, questions, and messages! I have been very busy and it's hard to keep up but I will try over time. If any of you are interested in getting some coaching for your business ideas or small business, feel free to reach out in the messages.
People always underestimate how much grit it takes to build a business - The internet does a good job of downplaying how hard it is to become a full-time entrepreneur.Even after you make it to that level, there are still challenges that pop up daily especially if you've never done ... See More this before.I literally used to clean toilets in a hotel for a living. Shortly after that, I worked in call center. If you've never done it before, it's basically entitled people calling you to solve their problem and getting nasty with you if there's any hiccups. I spent nights and weekends building my company and eventually (10 years later), I was able to quit and go full-time with my own thing. It was 10 years of constant hope and uncertainty.I thought this was the promised land and although I wouldn't have it any other way, there are still things that pop up ALL THE TIME. We've seen everything from dishonest vendors to gaps in our own knowledge that usually end up with a headache and an unexpected expense. Can you share your story of some of the challenges you experienced?
Made 1000$ in 1 day. What should my next steps be? - My sister refered me to a friend of hers, who works in finance consulting. She deals with alot of repetitive excel data. I told her i could write a quick script which makes her 2 hours work in ... See More a minute. I was done in 30min and just waited for the next day to send. She was very happy, I didnt even expected any money. I just blurted out a number and was shocked when she said yes. Iam still shaking a bit because iam a 20 year old cs student. 1k seems alot to me.I asked her for more referals but she had none. I want to get into automation. How do i get more “clients”. Do i need to run ads? I feel like ads wouldnt work since it a case by case situation.
For the people that are consistently bringing in $2k+ a month with a side jobs/hustle what are you doing? - like the title says, what are you doing to bring in extra income on a monthly basis?
Friend claims his small company is making $100k/month in pure profit - Friend and I work in tech. Last year he opened up a company with an idea and received some small amount of venture capitalI know he browses Reddit a lot so to not give away what his company ... See More does, it's basically low quality online stuff that can payout some tokens to users which could convert to real money. Essentially ad/data mining stuff, mostly used by people in extremely underdeveloped countries where $1-3 can be worth a lot.He claims 10 million users, 95% U.S. based userbase, and $100K in pure profit after all expenses. He hired a few interns to help out at the office and some coding stuff, and he pays them close to minimum wage. How likely is it that he's full of it? I have no way to verify what he says but what are your thoughts?
Making almost $20k a month on TikTok. Should I still look for a job? - Hi all, I have been a video creator for sometime now, and I’ve been extremely blessed to say that people are very interested in my videos. As a result, I have 3 million followers, and ... See More I am earning about $20k a month on TikTok. I graduated from college in May of this year, and I’m trying to get a job in sales. My degree is in marketing. I know these earnings won’t last forever, but I also feel that if I get a job I won’t be able to dedicate my time towards content creation and my video quality and upload rate will drop. What should I do? Should I still be looking for a job and just have TikTok be a side thing?
You'll Never Be Successful In Business Listening To The Doubters - I know too many of you in here who have already jumped into the world of owning a business this advice seems almost pointless; however, I know there are many lurkers on this subreddit just waiting to jump in ... See More and seize their opportunity to run a business looking for some sort of motivation or support from their close colleagues and friends, but sadly I'm here to break it to you that it's not coming...Yup, I know that's a harsh reality but let me tell you something I've run a successful SEO business here for over 3 years now with a handful of loyal clients at my side but none of that would've been possible had I sat around waiting for the opportunity or support of those around me. In fact often times I was met with negativity whenever I brought up the idea, I remember I brought the idea up to a close friend of mine who essentially told me "Bro theres millions of people already doing it what makes you think you can be any different" and even my parents told me to "work a regular job, owning a business is too risky" and while I can't hate on them for trying to shield me from failure, I can however fault them for not believing in my success. I will say this post isn't to jerk myself off about owning a successful business as I'll be the first to say I'm not where I want to be and I wouldn't even consider myself close to the $10,000 a month guys you always see in this subreddit, but I will say that I would've never even got to this point of running a profitable business had I listened to those around me who enjoy taking the "safe route" in life and collecting their biweekly paychecks. Now if you hate the idea that some SEO guy is saying this to you since there's hundreds of them in this subreddit then I guarantee other people in this group who run successful businesses outside of the SEO world probably share similar stories to my own and would relay this same information. So go out there build your first business, become profitable, and then look back at all the time you wasted waiting around for someone elses confirmation. I guarantee you'll thank me for this at some point if you do and if it fails then you start back for the beginning as nothing in life that's worth something sits behind the "safe route" in my opinion.
Should I make my dad CEO of my 10 yr old company? - - The business I founded is currently generating 2 million dollars annually, not very profitably but not at a loss.. kinda break even- He’s very business savvy and there wouldn’t be a better ceo than him, and ... See More he’s willing to do it. - I’ve proven I’m not the best ceo.. I like the product creation and branding side more than anything else and would continue doing that.- I kinda feel like it wouldn’t be perceived well by others. Others might think my dad was behind the company all along, even though I created it and built it. He’ll make it massively grow I’m sure, and it might discredit to others what I’ve done.. but that’s ego stuff.- edit to add: business is currently 100% owned by me, no investors and no board of directorsWhat do you guys think?
Things to do for employees for $10,000? - In our break room we have a vending machine. The employees don't know I own it and stock it. It makes about $10k/yr so I thought it'd be a nice way of funding an additional employee function each year, on top of ... See More the other things we already do (dinners two times a month, gift cards, yearly dollar raises). We have about fifteen people. Thoughts on things we can do? (Trips, activities, charity golf, idk.)
