American West Metals announces two exceptional copper discoveries at the Storm Copper Project in Canada

American West Metals Limited (ASX: AW1) has announced that its diamond drilling activities at the Storm Copper Project on Somerset Island, Nunavut have resulted in two remarkable copper discoveries.

New copper zone named 'Thunder'

Diamond drill hole ST23-03 has found a new near-surface zone of mineralisation and a deeper sediment-hosted copper system in an underexplored area of the Storm Project. Two zones of visual copper sulphide mineralisation have been intersected, including 76m of visual strong breccia to massive copper sulphide (chalcocite, bornite and chalcopyrite) and 2m of visual breccia and dense vein style copper sulphide. The new zone of near-surface copper has been named 'Thunder'.

Significant implications for the Storm Copper Project

These discoveries are significant because the deeper intersection is interpreted to correlate with the prospective sediment-hosted copper horizon intersected earlier this season, and is the first recorded occurrence south of the Southern Graben Fault. The drilling results confirm that geophysical techniques are reliable targeting tools for copper sulphides at Storm. Given the success of the gravity modelling and targeting to date, further ground surveys along the 10km of strike will be rolled out as a priority in spring.

Managing Director of American West Metals, Dave O'Neill, commented on the exceptional copper discoveries at Storm: "The diamond drilling at Storm continues to deliver, producing one of the best intersections ever seen at the Project. The scale potential of the copper system cannot be overstated. "

Drilling continues at high-priority copper targets at Storm, and American West Metals Limited will continue to provide updates on the project's progress.

There’s this idea floating around that throwing enough cash at Intel will suddenly turn them into the next TSMC. But semiconductor manufacturing isn’t something you can rush, it’s a complex, slow-moving process that takes years of precision and experience.

Intel could recover some ground eventually, but framing them as the savior of American chipmaking feels more like a political talking point than a practical reality.

Looks like we're going through something, but who would have thought with all these tarrifs, inflation and trade wars going on
