Azure Minerals Expands Exploration Efforts and Gains Strategic Advantage in Western Australia
Azure Minerals Limited (ASX: AZS), a mining company focused on exploring and developing projects rich in nickel, copper, cobalt, and lithium, has announced significant developments in its exploration activities in Western Australia. The company's focus on these minerals is vital for the global transition to clean energy and battery storage.
The Andover Project, located in Western Australia's West Pilbara region, encompasses the Andover Mafic-Ultramafic Intrusive Complex, hosting substantial deposits of nickel-copper-cobalt sulphide mineralization and prospective lithium mineralization in abundant pegmatites.
Azure Minerals announced on 5/7/23 that it has acquired a new exploration license (EL) E47/4700, spanning 10 blocks covering 32 square kilometres. This license is contiguous with Azure's existing Andover tenement (E47/2481) currently undergoing drilling operations. The newly acquired license area is highly prospective for lithium mineralization due to the presence of abundant pegmatites.
With the acquisition of the additional exploration license, Azure's granted tenements now encompass all identified pegmatites in the Andover district.

This strategic advantage positions Azure favourably for exploring and developing the lithium potential of the area.
To further bolster its exploration efforts, Azure Minerals reported that it has dedicated two diamond core rigs and three reverse circulation (RC) rigs to its lithium-focused drilling program. Additionally, a third diamond rig is being mobilised to the site, and the company is considering adding more rigs to accelerate drilling operations.
Azure Minerals stated that it plans to commence infill drilling soon to delineate a maiden mineral resource estimate within the AP0009-AP0014 pegmatite area. Previous drilling results have revealed high-grade lithium intersections, providing promising prospects for the project.
In parallel with its drilling program, Azure Minerals has commenced a metallurgical testwork program to evaluate lithium extraction methods. The company has also applied for four miscellaneous licenses for groundwater search, with expectations of receiving the approvals in the second half of 2023.
In terms of environmental and cultural preservation, Azure Minerals confirmed that all granted or applied for tenements are encompassed within a heritage protection agreement between Azure and the Ngarluma Aboriginal Corporation. Furthermore, additional heritage surveys over the newly granted E47/4700 exploration license will be initiated shortly.
Azure Minerals' expanded exploration efforts and strategic advantage in the Andover area highlight the company's commitment to developing essential minerals for clean energy technologies. With ongoing drilling operations and assessment of lithium potential, Azure Minerals is well-positioned to contribute to the growing demand for these critical resources.
