Elixir Energy Provides Operations Update in Mongolian Coal Bed Methane Project
Elixir Energy Limited is pleased to announce an operations update on its coal bed methane (CBM) project in the Nomgon IX Production Sharing Contract (PSC) in the South Gobi Basin, Mongolia. The company's Big Slope-7 appraisal well has recently spudded and has already encountered gaseous coal. With a planned total depth of 800 meters, Big Slope-7 is located west of the Big Slope-4 well, which encountered over 50 meters of coal in 2022.
Elixir Energy has partnered with Mongolian drilling contractor Erdene Drilling LLC (ED) to execute drilling operations in the region. Big Slope-7 is the first of several wells that ED will drill for Elixir Energy. Meanwhile, exploration drilling is progressing at the Bluebill-1 well, also intersecting gaseous coal.
The Nomgon extended pilot test is ongoing, with water production sustaining at satisfactory rates.
