Elixir Energy's Ambitious Operations Update: Queensland and Mongolia Projects on Track
Elixir Energy Limited has provided a promising update on its operations concerning its wholly owned projects, the Grandis Project in Queensland and the Nomgon Project in Mongolia. The company's recent activities mark significant progress towards achieving its de-risking objectives for these projects, with intensive operational phases planned for the coming months.
Grandis Project: The introduction of a coiled tubing unit for the Daydream-2 wellbore cleanout precedes a series of diagnostic tests and a comprehensive stimulation and testing program set from April to June.
Nomgon Project: Continues with its de-pressurisation process, marking steady progress in reaching gas desorption pressure, with considerations for expanding the pilot well count to accelerate outcomes.
Grandis Project: A Prelude to Intensive Testing and Stimulation
Elixir has mobilized a coiled tubing unit to clean out the Daydream-2 cased wellbore, setting the stage for an upcoming Diagnostic Formation Integrity Test (DFIT) program. This initial phase is crucial for optimizing the well's subsequent stimulation and flow testing phases, which are scheduled to run from April through June.
The company has finalized the detailed design of the stimulation and testing program, targeting 6 zones that span approximately 47 meters of the total 245 meters of net pay recorded in the Daydream-2 wellbore.

This strategic selection aims to maximize data acquisition, guiding the design of future development wells and potentially improving gas extraction efficiency.
Elixir's partnership with Halliburton for the stimulation program underscores the project's significance, with flow tests planned for May and June to further evaluate the well's potential.
Nomgon Project: Advancing Towards Gas Production
Parallel to the activities in Queensland, the Nomgon Pilot Project in Mongolia is advancing its objective to de-pressurise the gas-bearing coal reservoir. A recent operation to work over one of the pilot wells, Nomgon-10, and install a larger downhole pump has resulted in increased water extraction rates, a critical step towards reaching gas desorption pressure.
Elixir is exploring the addition of one or two more pilot wells to expedite the de-pressurisation process, highlighting the company's commitment to advancing the project's development timeline.
Industry Attention and Future Prospects
Neil Young, Elixir's Managing Director, expressed satisfaction with the progress of both projects, noting that the intense activities at the Daydream-2 well would attract further attention to the Taroom Trough area from the gas industry. This increased focus could bolster Elixir's position and potentially attract more partnerships and investments.
The company's proactive approach in both Queensland and Mongolia reflects its strategic planning and execution capabilities, aiming to meet its de-risking objectives and advance towards gas production.
