How Big is the Lithium Discovery at TA3 for Azure Minerals?
Azure Minerals: Major Expansion in Lithium Mineralization at Target Area 3
Azure Minerals Limited (ASX: AZS), a prominent player in the lithium mining industry, has announced a significant expansion of lithium mineralization at Target Area 3 (TA3) of its Andover Lithium Project. This discovery confirms the presence of a major lithium mineralized system, positioning the project for global significance.
Substantial Growth in Mineralization: Key Findings at TA3
Strike Length: The cumulative strike length of the AP0002/AP0003/AP0004 pegmatite has been extended to 1,700m. Down-Dip Extent: The mineralization extends over 700m down-dip, reaching a vertical depth of approximately 400m. Consistent True Width: Averaging around 35m.
Assay Results
The assay results have shown strong correlation with the previously reported visual spodumene widths. Key assay highlights include:
ANDD0303: 90.

8m @ 1. 54% Li2O from 82. 5m (True Width: ~34. 0m). ANDD0306: 58. 6m @ 1. 57% Li2O from 57. 7m (True Width: ~33. 1m), including a segment of 15. 9m @ 2. 31% Li2O. Other significant assays from AP0004, AP0002, and the footwall AP0005 pegmatite, demonstrating high-grade lithium mineralization.
Expansion Potential
Pegmatites at TA3 remain open at depth and along strike to the northeast and southwest, suggesting potential for further expansion.
Ongoing Exploration and Drilling: Drilling Operations
Two diamond rigs have recommenced drilling at TA3, focusing on delineating mineralized extensions. Six diamond rigs are currently operating at TA1 for resource definition, expected to be completed by late-February, before relocating to TA3.
Exploration Progress
To date, the drilling efforts have comprised:
192 diamond core holes for 57,878. 4m. 97 RC holes for 19,267m. 27 holes comprising RC pre-collars and diamond tails for 12,070. 7m.
Initial Exploration Insights
Initial exploration at TA3 identified numerous outcropping mineralized pegmatites, designated as AP0001 through AP0006, laying the groundwork for the current expanded exploration.
Technical Discussion: The Andover Pegmatite Swarm
This swarm extends over an area of 9km east-west and up to 5km north-south, comprising hundreds of outcropping pegmatites. Many of these pegmatites have been identified with high lithium grades from extensive surface sampling.
Geological Observations
Recent drilling has confirmed the continuity of mineralized pegmatites over extensive strike lengths and depths. Several pegmatites initially considered separate have now been confirmed as continuous beneath shallow cover, notably AP0003 and AP0004.
Geological Structure
The geometry of AP0002 suggests it is likely the western continuation of the AP0003/AP0004 pegmatite, separated by a fault. This finding is pivotal in understanding the larger geological structure of the area.
Azure Minerals' latest findings at TA3 within the Andover Lithium Project mark a significant expansion in lithium mineralization. The extensive strike length, down-dip extent, and consistent high-grade lithium assays position this project as a potentially globally significant lithium source.
This development not only enhances the value of Azure Minerals' lithium assets but also contributes substantially to the global lithium supply, crucial for the burgeoning electric vehicle and renewable energy industries.
