Australian Mines' Strategic Expansion in Brazil's Rare Earth and Niobium Sector

Australian Mines Limited, soon to be renamed EcoMetal Resources Limited, is making significant strides in Brazil's mining sector with a substantial expansion of its exploration footprint in the State of Bahia. The acquisition of 17 new tenements, covering approximately 51,000 hectares, positions the company as one of the largest tenement holders in the region.

This expansion is part of a strategic initiative to explore the highly prospective rare earth and niobium deposits in Bahia, a region known for its Ionic Absorption Clay and Hard rock deposits. The move aligns with Australian Mines' broader strategy to bolster its position in the critical minerals sector, leveraging Brazil's supportive mining environment and the company's expertise in exploration and development.

Expanding Footprint in Bahia

The new tenements, acquired in collaboration with Mineracao Paranai Ltda for an undisclosed but immaterial cash consideration, extend Australian Mines' control over an area now exceeding 131,000 hectares. These tenements are strategically located within and adjacent to areas known for their rich deposits of rare earth elements (REE) and niobium, offering significant exploration potential. Initial exploration activities are set to commence, marking the beginning of an ambitious phase of exploration aimed at uncovering the full potential of these assets.

Infrastructure and Strategic Advantage

The tenements' location offers strategic advantages, including proximity to existing company holdings, local and regional infrastructure, and potential synergies with neighboring projects. This advantageous positioning is expected to facilitate exploration and future development activities, providing a solid foundation for Australian Mines' growth in the rare earth and niobium sectors.

Brazilian Operations Overview: Resende Lithium Project

Located in Minas Gerais, the Resende Lithium Project is situated in a leading mining jurisdiction known as Lithium Valley. The area is home to notable lithium producers and several explorers, highlighting the region's significance in the global lithium market. The project comprises eight mineral rights claims covering 13,314 hectares, offering exposure to the eastern extensions of geological structures known for hosting mineralized pegmatites. With several historically mapped pegmatite occurrences within its boundaries, the Resende Project represents a promising lithium exploration venture.

Jequie Rare Earth Project

The Jequie Rare Earth Project, covering 82,568 hectares in Bahia, is situated in a jurisdiction with a track record of supporting large-scale mining operations. The project's location benefits from excellent infrastructure, including access to hydropower and a major deep-water port. Targeting rare earth elements and niobium, the Jequie Project is adjacent to Brazilian Rare Earth Limited's operations, which have reported significant REE anomalism. This proximity to established REE resources underscores the project's potential and the region's appeal for critical minerals exploration.

Looking Forward

Australian Mines' expansion in Brazil represents a strategic move to capitalize on the growing demand for critical minerals, such as rare earth elements and niobium, essential for various high-tech and green technologies. With initial exploration set to begin, the company is poised to advance its position in the sector, leveraging Brazil's rich mineral endowment and supportive mining environment. This strategic expansion not only enhances Australian Mines' exploration portfolio but also aligns with global trends emphasizing the importance of securing supply chains for critical minerals.
