Emerita's El Cura Deposit Unveils Promising Initial Drill Results in Spain's Iberian Belt

Emerita Resources Corp. has announced encouraging initial drill results from the El Cura deposit, part of its Iberian Belt West project in Spain. Despite limited historical data, the exploration has identified significant massive sulfide mineralization, hinting at the potential for high-grade base and precious metal deposits.

The findings mark a significant step forward in Emerita's exploration efforts, with phase two drilling planned for the first half of 2024 to further explore the deposit's potential.

Exploration at El Cura: A Step into Historical Grounds

The El Cura deposit, with a history of mining dating back to Roman times and various periods of modern exploration, is now under the spotlight thanks to Emerita Resources Corp. 's exploration drilling.

This deposit, part of Emerita's wholly owned Iberian Belt West project, is one of three massive sulfide deposits being explored for expansion.

Initial drilling efforts have focused on understanding the geology and mineralization patterns within the deposit, historically the least documented among the project's assets.

Initial Drill Results: A Glimpse into El Cura's Potential

Emerita's first diamond drilling campaign at El Cura, consisting of six holes over a 600m strike, has revealed massive sulfides and significant mineralization, particularly in hole EC007, which showed high-grade copper and zinc.

The drill results demonstrate the presence of an extensive mineralizing system, with potential for high-grade deposits similar to those found in the neighboring La Romanera deposit. These results are especially promising given the sparse historical data and the challenging environmental conditions that impacted the drilling campaign.

The Historical Context and Future Prospects

The exploration work at El Cura builds on historical assessments by Phelps Dodge and Rio Tinto, which suggested a resource estimate of up to 3Mt of polymetallic VMS mineralization.

Emerita's exploration, while still in the early stages, aims to expand on this historical estimate and explore the potential for additional massive sulfide mineralization below and to the north of the current drilling sites. The discovery of ancient workings and data from Rio Tinto's 1980s drilling campaign further support the potential for significant mineral deposits at El Cura.

Next Steps for Emerita

With the phase one drilling campaign complete, Emerita is preparing for phase two drilling in the first half of 2024. This next phase will focus on expanding the exploration area and targeting higher-grade mineralization zones.

The company's exploration strategy, coupled with the submission of an exploitation license application for a central processing facility, positions Emerita to potentially enhance the mining plan for the Iberian Belt West project. Additionally, Emerita is assessing untested exploration targets across the property to ensure that any new discoveries are integrated into future development plans.

Emerita Resources Corp. 's initial drilling results at the El Cura deposit highlight the potential for significant base and precious metal mineralization in Spain's Iberian Belt. As exploration continues, the company looks forward to unlocking the full potential of the El Cura deposit, contributing to the broader development and understanding of the Iberian Belt West project's resources.

With strategic planning and continued exploration, Emerita aims to establish El Cura as a key asset in its portfolio, potentially impacting future mining operations and the overall valuation of the project.
