How Will Spenda's Payment Solutions Transform Capricorn’s Ecommerce Infrastructure?
Spenda's Milestone in Digital Services Delivery: A Detailed Overview
Spenda Limited (ASX: SPX), a prominent software and electronic solutions provider, announces the successful completion of the final phase of the Digital Services Delivery (DSD) initiative, setting the stage for a groundbreaking commercial launch in the second half of the fiscal year 2024. This achievement marks a significant step in Spenda's journey and reflects the burgeoning potential of digital payment solutions in the ecommerce sector.
The DSD Initiative: A Strategic Collaboration with Capricorn
The DSD initiative represents a substantial and strategic project aimed at overhauling the payment infrastructure within Capricorn's network. This network comprises over 26,000 Members and more than 2,000 preferred Suppliers across Australia and New Zealand. Capricorn, a member-based organization established in 1974, primarily supports businesses in the automotive industry, with its Members purchasing approximately $270 million per month in parts from the approved Supplier network.

Initiative
Spenda's involvement in the DSD initiative focuses on enhancing productivity and creating efficiencies within Capricorn's network. The company's role extends to upgrading the payments infrastructure and integrating advanced ecommerce payment solutions powered by Spenda.
Key Features of Spenda's Payment Technology
The upgraded payment infrastructure will incorporate Spenda’s Pay-Statement-by-Link and Payment Widget solutions. These technologies are tailored to provide seamless integration of purchases into financial systems, allow preferred Suppliers to process credits, and enable Member purchases to be charged to the Capricorn Trade Account via preferred Supplier ecommerce solutions.
Progress and Completion of the DSD Initiative
Spenda successfully demonstrated Proof of Concept (PoC) for multiple technical scenarios and met all acceptance criteria, leading to the completion of the final phase of the DSD initiative. This completion was officially accepted by Capricorn, paving the way for final discussions on a 10-year service agreement.
Financial Highlights and Future Prospects
Spenda will receive $443k for the successful completion of the final phase, $1.3m in initial development fees for the commercial launch in 2H FY24, and a recurring revenue of $100k per month in software licensing fees. Additionally, a 5+5 year option, if exercised, could extend the agreement to a 20-year term.
Market Opportunity and Impact
The partnership with Capricorn represents a transformative commercial opportunity for Spenda, given the significant volume of ecommerce transactions processed by Capricorn's Members and Suppliers. The implementation of Spenda's payment solutions is expected to notably improve cash utilization and reduce working capital requirements throughout Capricorn’s network.
Spenda's CEO on the Milestone
Adrian Floate, Spenda’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, expressed excitement about the partnership's transformative potential for Spenda. He highlighted the importance of the successful completion of the Foundation phase in de-risking the solution implementation and providing insights for the final design before the build phase.
Anticipated Commercial Launch
The anticipated commercial launch of Spenda's payment solutions for Capricorn in 2H FY24 is expected to make a significant impact on the digital payments landscape. This launch is set to capitalize on the substantial market opportunity presented by Capricorn’s extensive network.
Spenda's Pioneering Move in Digital Payments
Spenda's successful completion of the DSD initiative with Capricorn marks a pivotal moment in the company's trajectory, promising a substantial increase in its footprint in the digital payments domain. The long-term partnership with Capricorn not only signifies a major commercial opportunity but also demonstrates Spenda's capability to deliver innovative payment solutions that cater to the evolving needs of the ecommerce and automotive industries. As Spenda gears up for the commercial launch in the second half of FY24, the industry looks forward to witnessing the impact of this collaboration on the broader digital payments ecosystem.
