Inflation free zones - Around once or twice a year, some friends and I make the 40 minute drive to Dandenong in Melbourne just to experience the culinary delights in the 'Afghan Bazaars' and 'Little India' precincts.
Walked into an old favourite restaurant in the Afghan Bazaars precinct. First thing that stood out to me was that the prices had been the same for at least the past couple of years. I asked the owner how they manage to keep the costs low in the current inflationary environment and he responded that he carries the costs by operating on reduced profit margins because the locality mainly consists of low socio-economic families. He expressed concern that many of his customers may not have a place for a night out if he increased his prices.
I just thought that was an incredibly thoughtful thing to do.
