Is the Viridis Partnership with ANSTO a Game-Changer in Rare Earth Mineral Exploration?
Viridis Engages ANSTO: Advancing Metallurgical Testing for Colossus Project
Viridis Limited has embarked on a groundbreaking journey by partnering with the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) to conduct extensive metallurgical test work focused on ionic desorption leaching at the Colossus Project. This strategic engagement with ANSTO aims to delve into the depths of rare earth ionic mineralisation, explore advanced recovery techniques, and scrutinize critical metallurgical processes to optimize mineral recovery.
Unlocking the Depths of Rare Earth Mineralisation
ANSTO's appointment by Viridis marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of confirming rare earth ionic mineralisation across the Colossus Project. Leveraging previous surface samples affirming the presence of rare earths, particularly with PC-10 containing notable concentrations of TREO, ANSTO's scope of work encompasses an exhaustive investigation.
The comprehensive plan includes detailed analyses, such as optimised recoveries via diverse sample preparations, testing of composite samples from intermediate layers within the Colossus Project drill cores, and a meticulous examination of impurity removal and product precipitation stages.
Focusing on Confirmation and Expansion
Initial diamond assays from drill cores at Fazenda and Cupim South have uncovered substantial Ionic Adsorption Clay (IAC) bodies, reinforcing the potential of rare earth mineralisation. These discoveries, exhibiting significant thickness and enriched grades, have prompted Viridis to dispatch duplicate samples to ANSTO for comprehensive metallurgical assessments, intending to further validate and expand upon the findings.

Steadfast Progress Amidst Exploration Phases
Viridis remains resolute in its pursuit of completing Phase I and II exploration programs, having executed over 260 drill holes to date. While the initial reporting of 71 holes showcased promising prospects, the company eagerly anticipates assay results from the remaining 170+ holes currently undergoing analysis in the lab.
Additionally, significant intersections of saprolitic clay spanning over 45 meters within the Northern Concessions have surpassed earlier projections, with the eagerly awaited second batch of assays slated for December 2023, sustaining the momentum of discovery and advancement.
The collaboration between Viridis and ANSTO not only underscores a remarkable leap forward in rare earth mineral exploration but also symbolizes a concerted effort to unlock the full potential of the Colossus Project.
As Viridis continues its steadfast march through exploration phases, the partnership with ANSTO promises to reveal groundbreaking insights, setting a new paradigm in the realm of rare earth mineralisation and metallurgical advancements.
