Melbana Energy Limited Announces Initial Production Outcomes from Alameda-2 Well
Melbana Energy Limited (ASX: MAY) has recently revealed the initial production results from the Alameda-2 well located in Cuba. The long-awaited results confirm the presence of flowing oil in the area, marking a significant milestone for the Australian independent oil and gas company.
During a production test, oil flowed to the surface unassisted. Melbana Energy's Executive Chair, Andrew Purcell, mentioned that the quality of crude found at the Alameda-2 well in Cuba is typical of crude found at shallow depths. The well is a part of Melbana's Block 9 production-sharing contract area, and the company holds a 30% interest in the project.
The Alameda-2 well has a productive interval of 63 meters TVD2, and following this discovery, the company plans to reevaluate the interval for potential future development. Melbana Energy will continue drilling to evaluate deeper units, taking cores, logs, and conducting flow tests, as well as sampling oil in the next interval - Unit 1B.
