Power Minerals Achieves Outstanding Results in Rincon Salar, Advancing Salta Lithium Brine Project
Power Minerals Limited (ASX: PNN) has announced remarkable progress in its Salta Lithium Brine Project in Argentina, particularly at the Rincon salar. The company revealed outstanding results from its aquifer depth and brine sampling program, solidifying its position as a prominent player in the lithium mining industry.
The sampling program involved drilling two diamond core holes, reaching depths of 80 and 130 meters. These holes intersected brine-bearing aquifers with notably high lithium grades of up to 288 mg/L, accompanied by low impurities. Additionally, porosity tests conducted on selected core samples indicated effective porosities ranging from 5% to 35%, demonstrating favourable conditions for brine extraction.
These drilling and sampling outcomes have not only confirmed but also expanded the existing Mineral Resource at Rincon. The salar's Measured and Indicated categories now comprise 60,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) and 270,000 tonnes of potash equivalent (KCl).

Furthermore, an additional 6,000 tonnes of LCE and 26,000 tonnes of KCl fall within the Inferred category.
Emphasising its commitment to detailed evaluation, Power Minerals also announced the commencement of a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) at Rincon. The PEA aims to assess the technical and economic feasibility of establishing a lithium brine operation at Rincon, utilising conventional evaporation ponds and processing facilities. The assessment is scheduled to conclude in the first quarter of 2023.
Rincon is a strategically advantageous location within the Salta Project, residing in the prolific lithium triangle of north-west Argentina. The salar is surrounded by several renowned lithium brine projects, including Orocobre's Olaroz, Galaxy's Sal de Vida, and Lithium Americas' Cauchari-Olaroz. Rincon stands out among Power Minerals' four salars, offering the highest-grade lithium and the lowest impurity levels.
Power Minerals' Managing Director, David Frances, expressed satisfaction with the outstanding results achieved from the drilling and sampling program at Rincon. He highlighted the high quality and consistency of the lithium brine resource and the significant progress made on the PEA. Frances added that Rincon possesses all the essential characteristics required to become a successful and cost-effective producer of battery-grade lithium carbonate in the near future.
Power Minerals' advancements at the Rincon salar reinforce its position as a prominent player in the lithium mining sector. As the company continues to make strides in its Salta Lithium Brine Project, its focus on unlocking the full potential of Rincon underscores its commitment to delivering value to its stakeholders.
