The problem is that everyone is buying and receiving BTC habitually but no one is spending a single sat.

I remember my first transaction. Palms sweaty. Must’ve read the address 50 times every single character. This was Pre-Segwit too so addresses we’re still classic 1 format.
But sure enough it posted and the tx was on the ledger. Pretty amazing

which took 3 days, before initiating the transaction. In the line at the Western Union kiosk at the local Walmart, there were signs every 3 feet warning about not sending money to strangers you had met on the internet FOR ANY REASON. I was in college, and $50 was A LOT of money to me at the time. I was terrified I'd just wasted an entire weekend at the bar on a scam. Two-three hours after sending the money via WU, I received my first 1.44 BTC, which I proceeded to dump onto SealsWithClubs, one of the first bitcoin poker websites. God I miss those .5 BTC freerolls.
