Technical Specifications and Process Optimization

Production Capacity: The refinery is set to produce lithium carbonate of at least 99.

Efficiency Targets: The plant aims for 84% availability and an overall recovery rate for lithium of 85%.

Environmental and By-Product Strategy

Anhydrous Sodium Sulphate: This by-product, primarily used in the textile industry, will be sold to generate additional revenue.

Alumina-Silicate Residue: The residue from leached spodumene will be marketed to the cement industry, aligning with sustainability goals.

The Refinery's Process Flow and Site Layout

Calcination to Leaching: The process involves calcining spodumene concentrate, followed by mixing with concentrated sulphuric acid and roasting. The leach circuit then processes the sulphated spodumene.

Lithium Carbonate Production: The process includes heating, reacting with sodium carbonate, and further purification to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate.

Draft Site Layout Considerations

Adaptation to Canadian Climate: The draft layout accounts for Canadian climate conditions, optimizing the delivery of raw materials and shipment logistics. Environmental Compliance: The design includes measures like cyclones and electrostatic precipitators to meet environmental emissions limits.

Optimal Location for the Refinery

Bécancour Industrial Park: Following an extensive location study, Lithium Universe has chosen the Bécancour Industrial Park, situated between Québec City and Montreal, for its refinery.

Strategic Collaboration: The company is in talks with Société du parc industriel et portuaire de Bécancour (SPIPB) regarding this location.
