Red Mountain Mining Launches Phase II Exploration at Monjebup for Rare Earth Ionic Clays

Red Mountain Mining (ASX: RMX), a prominent mineral exploration and development company, has initiated Phase II exploration at its Monjebup Rare Earths project in Western Australia. This phase focuses on detailed grid clay sampling to identify Rare Earth Element (REE) bearing clay targets, particularly around zones with enriched REE orthogneisses. Following promising results from initial phases, this exploration aims to further delineate drill targets for upcoming aircore drilling.

Phase II Exploration Details

The exploration program targets zones around four anomalous basement rocks with Total Rare Earth Oxide (TREO) levels exceeding 1000ppm, alongside soil sample locations also showing over 1000ppm TREO (+Yttrium). Approximately 1,450 samples will be collected across 1000m x 1000m grids at 50m intervals, focusing on the Chillinup prospect within the E70/6043 exploration license.

Methodology

Sampling will employ a hand auger to reach clays at depths greater than 0. 4 meters, with up to 1 kilogram of clay collected at each site.

This methodical approach will cover the Stockwell Road, Chillinup Road, Dump Road, and Dump Road extension sites, with some grids overlapping.

Generating Drill Targets

The data collected from this grid clay sampling program is crucial for generating precise targets for the planned aircore drilling. This step marks a pivotal stage in the project's development, moving closer to identifying viable REE resources.

Strategic Implications

Red Mountain's exploration activities at Monjebup signify the company's commitment to contributing to the REE supply chain, critical for various high-tech and green technologies. The focus on ionic clays, known for their relatively straightforward extraction processes, highlights the strategic value of the Monjebup project.

Portfolio Diversification

With projects spanning lithium, rare earth, and gold across the USA and Australia, Red Mountain is diversifying its mineral exploration portfolio. The Monjebup Rare Earths Project, alongside the flagship lithium project in Nevada, USA, and the Koonenberry Gold Project, positions the company to leverage the growing demand for critical minerals.

Red Mountain Mining's Phase II exploration at the Monjebup Rare Earths project underscores the company's proactive approach to mineral exploration. By targeting REE ionic clays, Red Mountain aims to uncover significant resources that could play a crucial role in the global push for renewable energy and technology development.

As the company awaits assay results to formulate a detailed drilling plan, the exploration at Monjebup is a key step towards realizing the potential of this emerging rare earths project.
