Power Minerals Limited (ASX: PNN), a prominent player in the lithium mining industry, has announced a significant addition to its leadership team with the appointment of Ricardo Daniel Piethé as General Manager. This strategic move is part of the company's ongoing efforts to accelerate the development of its Salta Lithium Project in Argentina, a region of increasing importance in the global lithium market.

An Accomplished Geologist with Over 18 Years of Expertise

Ricardo Piethé brings a wealth of experience to his new role, boasting more than 18 years of geology expertise. His extensive background encompasses petroleum exploration and production, research and development, and alternative energy investment. Notably, Piethé has spent the past three years immersed in the lithium mining sector, making him a valuable asset to Power Minerals.

Prior to joining Power, Ricardo Piethé served as the Exploration Manager for Litica Resources, a mining division of Pluspetrol Resources Corp. , which stands as the largest private Exploration and Production (E&P) company in Latin America.

Litica Resources, like Power, holds a significant land portfolio in Argentina's renowned "lithium triangle," making it a pertinent point of reference for Piethé's new role.

Impressive Track Record in Lithium Mining

During his tenure at Litica Resources, Ricardo Piethé led a wide array of geological and subsurface operations. These responsibilities included overseeing well drilling, geophysical surveys, exploration asset maturation, portfolio analysis, new project evaluation, lithium prospect generation and evaluation, technical audit, and the management of a substantial team dedicated to lithium exploration and development.

Under Piethé's guidance, Litica Resources achieved remarkable success with its flagship Pozuelos-Pastos Grandes project in Argentina, where resources saw a remarkable three-fold increase. This achievement culminated in one of the industry's most significant transactions—an impressive US$960 million sale to Ganfeng last year.

Piethé's illustrious career extends back to his 15-year tenure at Pluspetrol, where he played a pivotal role in the integration of the Northern South America Regional Studies Team, responsible for operating multiple blocks across Peru, Colombia, and Venezuela. His tenure also saw him lead the New Ventures team, where he actively scouted and developed prospects across diverse regions, including Sub-Saharan Africa Basins, Alaska, Myanmar, Australia, and Latin America.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field, Ricardo Piethé was honored with the prize for the Best Geological Thesis of the year at Buenos Aires University in 2006.

Power's Vision for the Future

The appointment of Ricardo Piethé aligns with Power Minerals' forward-looking strategy. The company is dedicated to advancing its Salta Lithium Project in Argentina while making substantial progress on its Rincon and Incahuasi salares, both of which have gained prominence in recent months. The goal is to harness the vast lithium resources in the region and play a pivotal role in the global lithium supply chain.

In addition to his extensive experience and proven track record in lithium brine development, Piethé's appointment underscores Power Minerals' commitment to achieving new milestones in lithium exploration and production.

The appointment of Ricardo Piethé as General Manager signals Power Minerals' intent to capitalize on the booming lithium market. With his rich background in lithium mining and exploration, Piethé is poised to lead the company's efforts in developing its Salta Lithium Project and achieving new heights in the lithium sector. Power Minerals remains dedicated to playing a key role in the global transition to sustainable energy solutions through its lithium endeavors.
