Why are high-grade lithium hits at Lake Johnston significant for TG Metals?
TG Metals Limited (ASX:TG6), a company with a focus on the exploration and development of mineral resources, has released a noteworthy update regarding its ongoing drilling activities at the Lake Johnston Li-Ni-Au Project. The latest results from the Burmeister lithium discovery within the project demonstrate the company's consistent success in intersecting high-grade spodumene-bearing pegmatites. These findings have the potential to significantly impact the lithium industry.
Lithium Drilling Success
Phase Two drilling at the Burmeister lithium discovery continues to yield impressive results, with intersections of spodumene-bearing pegmatites featuring high lithium grades of up to 2. 88% Li2O. Notable highlights from the drilling program include:
1. Exceptional Lithium Grades: A 19-meter interval with a lithium grade of 1.

52% Li2O was encountered at a depth of 206 meters. Within this interval, there were particularly high grades, including 2. 53% Li2O over 2 meters from 209 meters and 2. 36% Li2O over 2 meters from 217 meters.
2. Consistent Lithium Mineralization: A core tail on drillhole TGRC0009 revealed a 4. 05-meter interval with a lithium grade of 1. 74% Li2O from a depth of 132. 5 meters. Within this interval, 0. 95 meters displayed an even higher lithium grade of 2. 29% Li2O from 133. 6 meters.
David Selfe, CEO of TG Metals, expressed his satisfaction with the results, stating that these high-grade lithium findings provide valuable insights into the mineralized system. He further emphasized the significance of these results in targeting thicker pegmatites and the main body of mineralization.
Expanding Mineralization Zone
The current drilling program has significantly expanded the known main zone mineralization, stretching it to a remarkable 1,400 meters in strike length. Importantly, this mineralization remains open in all directions, holding further potential for exploration and expansion.
Pegmatite Intercepts
The Phase Two drilling program incorporated Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling and Diamond Drill (DD) core tailing, aimed at exploring dip and extensions of the discovery holes. This effort targeted the Burmeister lithium soil anomaly, which now spans an impressive 2. 6 kilometers in strike length and continues to remain open both to the north and south. The drilling program encompassed sixteen RC holes and two DD tails, with drill depths reaching up to 304 meters.
The drilling program has revealed multiple stacked, shallow-dipping pegmatites, signaling a promising geological structure. A notable find was RC hole TGRC0022, which yielded a combined pegmatite intersection of 26 meters at a lithium grade of 1. 53% Li2O. Within this intersection, a single pegmatite displayed a remarkable 19-meter thickness with a lithium grade of 1. 52% Li2O, marking the most substantial pegmatite intercept to date.
Continued Success
The Phase Two drilling program has succeeded in defining the continuity of mineralized pegmatites along strike to the north and down dip to the west. Further drilling, as part of Phase Three, is planned to test areas up dip of the thick intercept in hole TGRC0022 and along strike to the north for additional width.
Drilling on the western-most soil anomaly also produced positive results. TGRC00023 displayed 3 meters at a lithium grade of 1. 28% Li2O from a depth of 242 meters, while TGRC00025 showed 4 meters at 1. 27% Li2O from a depth of 182 meters. Follow-up drilling is planned in Phase Three to explore these areas further.
Next Steps
As the year comes to a close, Phase Two drilling has concluded, and core samples have been transported to Perth for cutting and assaying. Results for these samples, along with pending RC drill hole assays, are expected in the coming weeks.
Drilling operations are set to resume in early January 2024 with Phase Three, which will focus on defining the thickest intercepts observed to date and investigating deeper pegmatite intercepts up dip. This information will contribute to the geological model of pegmatite emplacement and guide future exploration efforts.
Furthermore, the approvals process for drilling on the Jaegermeister lithium soil anomaly has commenced, with environmental surveys scheduled for the first quarter of 2024. Infill soil sampling is also planned to commence in the near future, covering the Jaegermeister prospect and extensional lithium targets to the south and north of Burmeister.
TG Metals' continued success in its lithium drilling program at Lake Johnston, particularly at the Burmeister lithium discovery, underscores the company's potential to make a significant impact in the lithium industry. With high-grade lithium hits and promising geological findings, TG Metals is well-positioned for future exploration and development, offering investors a compelling opportunity in the growing lithium market. Further assay results and exploration updates will be closely watched as the company progresses its ambitious projects.
