Why Is the Discovery of High-Grade REE Mineralization at Barrow Creek Important for Askari Metals?
In a significant development for the mining industry, Askari Metals Limited (ASX: AS2) has uncovered substantial high-grade Rare Earth Element (REE) mineralization at its 100%-owned Barrow Creek REE and Lithium Project in the Central Arunta Pegmatite Province of Northern Territory. The exploration program, consisting of extensive rock and soil sampling, as well as high-definition geophysical and hyperspectral surveys, has yielded promising results.
Rock Sampling Campaign Delivers Exceptional Results
The rock sampling campaign carried out by Askari Metals produced remarkable results, including rock samples with REE concentrations of 11610 ppm TREO (Total Rare Earth Oxide), 2507 ppm TREO, and 2446 ppm TREO. These findings substantiate previous sampling efforts, where results reached as high as 4553 ppm TREO, 2143 ppm TREO, 1243 ppm TREO, 1235 ppm TREO, and 1091 ppm TREO.
As part of the exploration program, Askari Metals conducted high-definition geophysical surveys to further investigate the potential of the Barrow Creek project. These surveys encompassed magnetic, gravity, and aerial hyperspectral data, with a specific focus on REE mineralization. This data collection aims to better understand the geological formations and mineralization patterns within the project area.

Identifying Promising Geological Features
The geophysical review uncovered two distinct phases of granitoid intrusions in the Barrow Creek project area. The contact margin between these phases has been identified as a potential zone for REE enrichment. Additionally, a coincident uranium anomaly was detected in this contact margin, adding further intrigue to the geological prospects.
Future Prospects
Mr. Gino D'Anna, Executive Director of Askari Metals, expressed his satisfaction with the exploration program's results, emphasizing the project's potential. These findings are consistent with previous sampling efforts by the company and indicate the presence of extensive high-grade REE mineralization.
The ongoing mineralogical test work will provide valuable insights into future processing options, evaluating the feasibility of producing a clean REE concentrate. Looking ahead, Askari Metals is planning a follow-up exploration program for 2024, which will include drilling designed to assess the depth and extent of REE mineralization beneath the surface.
The discovery of high-grade REE mineralization at the Barrow Creek project underscores the significant potential of this mining venture. With compelling sampling results and ongoing exploration efforts, Askari Metals is poised to make a meaningful contribution to the REE industry. The company's commitment to further exploration and development aligns with its goal of delivering valuable resources to the market.
As exploration activities continue and additional data becomes available, the Barrow Creek project's outlook remains promising, and the mining community eagerly anticipates further updates on this exciting endeavor.
